no start when hot...please read.
ok i know i dont post here much...but i respect the advice of the people in here and i know there's some really smart guys on these forums. i have an 84 S-10 with an 88 305 tpi in it. i reciently rewired the whole truck with painless harnesses. i got a tpi harness and a chassis harness. the whole truck is rewired and it starts fine but only when it's cold. if i start the truck when it is cold the thing runs like a champ idle is right where it should be it get's warm idle is greas no bogging or anything. if i shut the truck off like say to adjust someting under the hood...or at the gas station when i go to start it the truck will not start. it turns over fast and wants to start but it will not start. if i wait a lttle while like say 10 minutes till the truck cools a little bit...it will fire right up. ive heard of heat soak but doesent this only apply if the truck doesnt turn over? ive allread replaced the coil, the ignition madule, the plugs, the wires cap and rotor. fuel pressure is at 19 psi and i have spark. my esc is hooked up also. im out of ideas. could this be a computer problem? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
same problem here 88 5.7l tpi check the connections on your magnetick pickup coil to your ignition module. these tend to get pretty charred with time and if not done change out your pickup coil too. if all other parts are changed but this piece it is entirley obsolete. your ignition mod will not time your primary and secondary spark pathways.

Im no expert, but I had the same problem, someone told me a leaky fuel injector or two and i changed them and it the problem went away. I guess cause it pretty much floods the engine when you go to restart, then you have to wait for the fuel pressure to drop and for the gas to evaporate before it will start again.
ok well if it is an external coil like my setup then the pickup coil pos and neg will feed right into the ignition mod itself. another idea also that almost always overlooked remove your ignition module and clean up the metal surface you may see some dried up residue. this is hopefully old dielectric grease well if so regrease it because the grease helps to reduce heat soak and keep the spark within its optimal path. remeber intense heat will retard spark itself. you are right i ment to mention solenoids will not engage when hotter than hell hope this helps tim

There may be other ways, but the only way Im aware of is to pull the plugs one at a time right after you shut the car off after it has been run a bit, then check for gas soaked plugs. The problem is it could only be 1 or 2 leaky injectors so you really need to go through them all which bites i know.

Someone may need to correct me on this... but i think they may close when the car isn't running even if they are leaky injectors because they leak while the car is running and then when the car is shut off, the leaky ones will have gas filled cylinders, even though at that point they are no longer leaking.... I only say this because Im pretty sure mine held pressure with just the key on. You may want to pm Vader or Trickster or someone with more knowledge in this than myself and ask them to read this post and give their opinions.
