help with timing
i have an 87 firebird with a 92 motor in it and the the timing marks are different from the older chevy's im used to plus a lil hole by there for a probe like thing to time it what have yall done to time these cars

You don't need to pay attention to that little holder gadget. You just need to clean the tab off (so you can read it), then follow the instructions for setting the timing (on a TPI car, you disconnect the EST connector (tan/black wire), then set the base timing to 6* BTDC with a [inductive pickup] timing light).
