300 rwhp

What does it take to make a TPI make this much HP? w/o power adders? and not worrying about drivetrain.

My 383 with all the bells and whistles only makes 308 hp at the wheels. It does make 398 ft lbs of torqueat the wheels.. If you are using the tpi aim for torque rather than hp. This is where these motors shine due to the long intake runners. Just my $.02

For 300RWHP with TPI I would recommend the following. I will assume you are starting out with the 350 engine.

1. A good set of heads such as the AFR's, Trickflows etc.
2. Modify your TPI.
A. Plenum mods.
B. 52mm Throttle body.
C. Hi flowing intake such as the Edelbrock, portmatched and cleaned up. Extrude hone if you can afford it.
D. Good set of runners such as ASM or highly modified SLP.
E. If a Trans Am modify the intake tract. Cold Air best.
F. K&N air filter(s).
G. I have had the screens out of my MAF for 13 years with no problems.
3. A good high flow exhaust system.
A. Quality set of headers.
B. 2 1/2 inch tubing to the Cats.
C. A good "Y" connection and not the factory one.
D. A good 3" exhaust after the Cats.
E. A good flowing muffler of your choice. Noise consideration.
4. I would use a cam no less than a ZZ4 and with 1.6 roller rockers. Be sure to degree the cam. I like the ZZ9 cam and the one by GM that has 214 degrees on the intake side. These will get you your 300 rwhp and still idle nicely.
5. Have the engine properly assembled.
