Let's talk camshafts (HSR & Vortec heads)

I'm starting to piece together my winter upgrade in my head. Now that there will be a Stealth ram for Vortec heads, I've decided to go this route. I'll probably use the Pro Topline 906 Vortec heads with minimal port work. I may blend the bowls and work on the the exhaust flow a little bit, but overall I don't want to screw with them.

The motor is a .030 350 with forged flat top TRW pistons. Hydraulic flat tappet cam.

The car has a manual transmission.

The car will be driven semi-regularly (figure 100 miles per week) with occasional trips to the track. Drivability is important, but so are fast ETs.

So... what I'm looking for is an idea of what cam specs I should be looking at. I don't want to over cam the motor, but I don't want to sell myself short either.

Pony Killer is running a comp XE 274 in his carbed vortec headed 350 with the same pistons. He's running 11.960@113.51 in his lightened camaro. It seems like that cam would be a good cam for my configuration as well, although if I could find something similar with a wider LSA I think I would be a bit better off in terms of emissions production and idle quality. I would also think that something with a bit more of a dual pattern will help the exhaust side of the vortec heads... although I could always run 1.6 rockers on the exhaust to help.

Does anybody have any other suggestions? I'm probably going to buy new rockers too, so I could use 1.5 or 1.6 ratio depending on what would pair up best with the cam selected.

I'm just going to use the zz4 untill I get a handle on chip burning, After that I'll stick a comp xr269hr or lt4 hot in there. For a flat tappet, I guess go as big as you can tune. The xe274 may be close?

I would say something in the 224/230 range... Maybe a little more if you are feeling a little more radical than that...
