What 2 hoses connect to IAC housing?

Hi guys, I am finishing up little detail stuff before I fire up my 69 327 TPI conversion. The IAC motor housing has one port pointing straight forward and one that comes out on the side. What did these connect to on a stock 3rd gen TPI? Can I just leave them open? This is in a 77 Camaro. I am using an 88-89 Trans Am intake ducting setup, flipped upside down so it is on the driver's side.

I think you're talking about the TB coolant lines...you should be fine with out them....many do the "TB Coolant Bypass" mod.

Mike, are the two hose connections on this IAC for routing coolant through the throttle body, as you mentioned, or for something else? These are the two connections I'm trying to identify the function of.

I'm pretty sure those are the coolant lines, I'd have to pop my hood to verify...but it's raining right now and I'm staying dry

Those are the tb coolant lines. You can do a tb coolant bypass by simpling connecting the lines together. This keeps the tb colder, adding hp. Not earth shattering power, but some. It is one of the "free" mods you can do to a TPI motor. You can find out how to do it in the Tech section.

Thanks guys. Speed, I don't need to do a "conversion", my 327 tpi setup didn't have provisions for the throttle body coolant circuit to begin with.

Vortec, you will be fine using the 88-89 style intake ducting flipped like I did. I am using a stock long neck TPI water inlet and the stock part # TPI upper radiator hose. It clears the intake duct with a lot of room to spare.

Unless somebody plugged the coolant port on the front of the intake manifold already, then it did have it. But, there's no reason to use it. On my Camaro, I run the coolant from the port on the intake manifold directly to the heater core, then back to the radiator.
