help with some tpi questions
Hello. Im new to TPI. I didn't see a stickey for this like they have in the TBI forum so please don't get mad at me mod's. A buddy of mine just bought a 91 z28 with the L89. He asked me what all he could do to it to have a bit more power. He is still in school and only works on weekends so money is tight for him. I know nothing about TPI as I am familiar with TBI. Also the car has about 160,000 so i know that some power has probelly been lost with the amout of miles that he has. The only thing that he knows that has been done to the car is that it has a flowmaster exhaust system. Thanks in advance

whether TBI, TPI, carb, or anyother method of induction and fuel delivery, the method for making more power is always the same. That is, do whatever you want/can to make a bigger bang. stuff more air in the chamber, combine with the appropriate amount of fuel, squeeze it down more, and blow it up. The TPI system will respond relatively well to almost any modification you want. If you want to keep things simple, and avoid the learning curve of chip programming, you can stick to the easy bolt on's. "intake, headers, exhaust" as my friend says. gut out the restrictions in the dual snorkle, maybe a TB airfoil, port the plenum, put some cheap headers on, and the exhaust is already covered. Those things are very cheap, if not free. Later on, he can dive into the more intricate installs if the budget allows.
