Post pictures of your nice TPI engine bays.

Hey guys, I'm finishing routing my Painless TPI retrofit harness on my 327. I'd like to see pictures anyone has of their nice clean TPI engine bays, so I can see how the factory routed some of the wiring (I'm tempted to route the injector hookup wires inside the TPI runners to keep everything neat, but am not sure if the factory did this). I'm just being really paranoid because I don't want to pinch or burn any wires on my $325 harness.

I moved the injector wiring inside the runners on my car, and tucked the remaining wiring between the runner and valve cover, which required positioning them there BEFORE installing the valve covers. I think it neatened up the engine bay considerably though.

By the way, what motivated you to use TPI on a 327? That seems like an unlikely combination to me. Most of chevy's 327s that made big power did so by using a solid lifter cam and turning a lot of RPM, which seems to be very much against what the strengths of TPI are. I've got 461 fuelie heads on my car, and the fuelie head/TPI combo sucks in my application.

one quick tp i can give you is run the main bulk of wires through the top of the transmission hump right as it breaks off from the firewall you will never see the wires although it does make the distub area a little tight but still looks great, cant see too many wires on my engine

Since purchasing my TA new back in 86', I've had just about every intake on my motor. Large tube, SLP, SuperRam and now MiniRam.

The MiniRam runs great and the installation is a snap but whenever I see a nice TPI motor like Jim's IROC, it makes me want to go back to a TPI. I remember the first time I saw a sales brochure with a pic a TPI motor, I thought it was the hottest motor ever.

Vortec77,It is the stock air intake setup. It does go down to a filter on the passenger side.It is one of the worst designed setups I've seen.

Well, it *used* to be TPI...

A HSR doesn't leave much room for hiding lines.

In the picture Vortec77 posted, the air intake looks the same as the one off my 2.8?

Thanks for the pics guys, and keep em comin! I'm going nuts with plastic looms trying to cover all my precious new wires, and it's giving me a headache. I think I gained 30 underhood wires going from non emissions 60s style carb to TPI.

Not the cleanest engine bay around. But the TPI sure is purty!

Nice polished intakes Jeff and Semiller!

Thirdgen89GTA, those look like stock runners that were opened up to siamese configuration with some tig work. Please tell me more! I may eventually get a spool gun to feed aluminum wire in my Lincoln 135 plus mig, so I'm definitely interested in finding an alternative to $500 aftermarket runners.

PAForm, I like the painted intake. Definitely a unique change of pace for a TPI setup.

Razor, pontimaniac, and PAForm, what runners are you guys using?

They aren't stock runners. ^_^

They are Arizona Speed and Marine Semi-Siamesed runners. I got them for a steal, but thunderracing, and summit carry them for about $475 before shipping and taxes.

Extruded aluminum, 1.66" inner diameter, and siamesed about halfway down. With a nice ported intake, and siamesed plenum these things run just short of a Super Ram setup. A few old dyno shootouts on a stock 89 Vette with headers showed the non siamesed versions actually producing more HP and torque than a First Injections setup, and a Mini-ram setup below 5,000rpm. This was with a ported plenum, and ported stock base. With siamesed and a ported aftermarket base I'm sure there is lots more potential.

I'm REALLY Jealous of you! But you are also the 2nd person I have ever seen post on the boards with a set of AS&M runners.

The shear cost of these things keeps lots of people away. I wouldn't have if I didn't get the deal I had on them.
