Questions on fuel pump and replacement
I may be needing to replace my pump soon. I have a bunch of questions.
The system doesnt hold pressure. I think I have been mixing up the fuel return line with the fuel in line. ( I know,
)
Anyway, the pressure drop would mean a bad check valve in the pump. Whenver I pinch the hose the pressue will stop falling when the pump is off. But if the pump is on, and i pinch the hose, the pressure goes to zero and the pump stops pumping. When I let go the pump goes back pumping and the pressure goes to normal. Yes, I know, stupid stupid mistake to mix up the lines......

Would a bad check valve cause driving problems like bogging on accel, or hesitation, or anything like that?
The gas tank also gets pressure buildup in the tank sometimes. What causes this and is it normal?
The pump also doesnt turn off after priming. It should turn off after 2 seconds, mine doesnt, it will stay on as long as the key is at run. What causes this?
I have access to a lift. How long would it take to replace the pump? Difficulty? Whats involved?
If I replace the pump, what else should I replace or check while the pump is out and the tank is out?
I read something about a pulstator. Is that part of the pump, or is it separate? Should I replace it? What does it do?
Thanks,
Matt

Thanks for all the info.
Its good to hear that the check valve wont cause problems like that. Though I think my pump is weak or dieing cause when I am checking fuel pressure and rev it in park or neutral, pressure drops slightly then raises.
Hopefully I am wrong on this and its something else. But at this point I have replaced just about everything and I am still having problems.
Thanks again,
Matt
