The LT1 uses reverse FLOW pump. Totally different from "normal" SBC (Gen 1) and unique to Gen 2 SBC.
If you want to use LT1 heads on a Gen 1 SBC then here's a link for what to expect.

not to mention the LT1 heads are 54cc
you can get the LT1 heads modified for the coolant passages of the gen1 SBC if you really need/want them. but you'll have to deal with the 54cc of the heads.
L98 Aluminum corvette heads are 58cc and the iron version's are 64cc
so depending on what pistons and gasket you are using will give you an idea on what compression you will see.

Sure its possible. I don't know if anyone on the boards has actually got it set up and running yet. Both me and TPI_ROC are working on our own setups with LT1 heads and LT1 intake. He is a bit further along than I, but he hasn't done much on it in the last 8 months or so. Hopefully I'll be finishing mine in the next 3-4 months, and hopefully he finishes before me so I know what problems to look out for
My design isn't very easy though. It requires re-locating most of the accessories and won't work with air conditioning or a conventional AIR(smog) pump.
Also requires you to use an LT1 intake. I'm sure you could get a TPI re-drilled for LT1 mounting, but honestly there's no sense. For the money/time you'll spend on that, you're better off just buying a set of aftermarket aluminum heads. I only went this route because I was going to go the LT1 intake route. Honestly, if I had stayed on that route, I would've been done a long time ago. This head conversion isn't the quickest/easiest job in the world and takes time to acquire all of the little parts here and there and finding someone you can trust to weld aluminum heads.
I figure I have about another $600 left in the project, including headers, gaskets, and a bit more machinework. Now that I'm out of school for 7-8 months, and should be working a lot more as well as have more time to myself/car, I should get this done on schedule to be running at the track this year. Once I finish this project, then its time to install the 3.42 gears in the back. Then its time to do something about the transmission (either T5, T56, or rebuild my 700R4 and buy a new t/c).
Anyways, when I finish this conversion, I'll definitely do some sort of a writeup, more than likely, hopefully in conjunction with TPI_ROC.
