TPI wiring help (trickster)

Trickster, you've been so helpful in all the posts i've been searching through i hope you can do the same for me without too much trouble on your part.

I'm putting a whole mix of parts together.

I have a 165 MAF engine harness repinned and converted to work with a 727 vette SD computer.

The C207 connector was giving me some fits.

The car is an 87 originally with an LG4. I'm using the original wiring that goes from the engine wiring harness to the aldl and the other various things.

I know the pinning is completely different, but since working on the car, i've lost my notes and need some help for when i go through it all again when i get back home.

Also a bit of help on wiring the VSS using the back of a cable driven speedo as the sender for this computer would be much appreciated.

in short:
C207 pin out (black connectors/car side) for an 87 LG4 camaro

C207 pin out for a 727 computer

and the VSS. I think i know how to do this. Just change the multiplier in the chip but i'm not sure which wires to run where exactly.

thanks guys.

your stock vss wont work with SD ecm ..... call a harness place and buy a cable driven adapting type sensor

thanks for the input but i'm fairly sure you only need to wire the VSS from the dash up and adjust a mutliplier...

Okay for the connector wiring I need to know what year, make, and model the ECM came out of and what size engine & fuel system that you have in there now. Did you also do anything with the transmission.

lol..everything has been done to the transmission. I bought the car with a TH350...i swapped in a 700R4 and now its getting a built T5. so the tranny stuff i understand i'll probably have to sort out on my own. but it will be cable driven to the speedo.

the ECM is a 727 out of a speed density corvette. I'm running $8D currently..well if it ever works but need to make the switch to $58.

the under dash part of the C207 is from my car, a 1987 carbed LG4.

the under hood portion of the harness, not the bulkhead harness, just the fuel injection harness is 165 MAF converted. i don't know what year and model unfortunately. i think its 87 or 88 though as that seems to set off bells.

I'm not sure why the engine size or fuel system matters too much but its a 350, with a walboro 340 pump and "hot wire " kit.

Is part of my problem that i'm leaving hte bulkhead wiring alone?
I know that was part of the issue, except that i ended up hard wiring the fuel pump so it never went through the bulk head. fuel pump worked perfectly, on for 3 sec and then off if the car didn't start.

The car ran once, for 10 min and flawlessly too. and then the next day it wouldn't fire up.... I had the C207 wired, though not proiperly i'm sure and its the number one thing on my list of not quire right parts in the harness.

The different engine sizes & fuel systems had different pin-outs on the C207 connector.

ah ok thanks.

hopefully you can give me some insight with that then.

I just don't have exact years on anything except the wiring that's already in the car since i got it all from separate people at separate times.

I did end up wiring the computer control of the relay up myself and not through the bulkhead connector setup. Does anything else run through that connector that i still need to rewire?

niterider,
did you ever get your setup going? I am putting a stock '89 TPI system with VATS disabled into my '87 formula. I am now working with the C207 connector. I've found that the lines for the electric fuel pump run through that connector, and the connections appear to be quite different than the '89 connector I'm trying to match it to.

Do you have any information that might be helpful for me? I think I may be in a bit over my head and need something that explains the connections that I need to make in detail.

Nope, i haven't worked on it, if only because its 500 miles away from me right now.

I'll be diving into it the first week of May and hopefully i can figure everything out relatively quickly.

I'll let you know what i find if it would still be worthwhile for you.
