Do you like it? Are vortec heads good with TPI? Is this a good deal?

i bought vortec heads for my trans am but i wasn't going to leave it tpi i was converting to carb. anyway, when i brought my heads to the engine builder he said that for the price i would have to put into the heads to get the flow i needed out of them it wouldn't be worth it when i could go out and buy the dart iron eagles i purchased for 700 bucks. but this was again for a carb setup and i will be putting out over 450 hp....for mild applications i would say go for it b/c for the price they flow excellent, that's what convinced me to buy them in the first place, but unfortunatly they didn't flow as well as i needed for that much power.

friend of mine, whos post here on TGO also, has a set of vortec heads with a carb on his car. He ran in the high 11s last season.
He had some head work done but not that much. They seem to flow just fine for his car.

350 Stock 4 bolt mains
eagle esq 4130 forged crank.
Trw flattops W vavle reliefs.
block decked to 8.997 bored .030
polished X rods,
standard volume, melling pump
dyna gear roller timing set.
degreed, ballanced.
Stock ballancer,
Comp XE274 hyd flat tappet cam.
comp pushrods, Crane race gold 1.5 rockers
vortecs, bowl work, vavle job, decked to clean up. 62cc compression comes out just north of 10.6
Z28 springs, over top of the original 1.94/1.5 vavles
Edelbrock performer rpm intake, with a 1" open spacer.
HEI distributor with a pertronix flamethrower rebuild
Slp 1 3/4" headers.

Was running with a 3130 vac sec 40 year old carb. witch worked ok, specially in street use but got limited at track. The 700R4 worked well with the 3300 stall act converter. till i cracked the case.
had a set of 3.73's in a ten bolt. and was running too tall 28x10.5x15 mt ET drags on it.
with the old carb not able to give me enough pump shot, she still cracked the trans and managed a 11.961@113.51mph. the tranny completely gave out the next run, a coasted to 12.003@113.2
the 11.96 run was made on a 1.66 60"er with the engine cutting off about 30feet out from the lil 30cc pump and the drk green cam not being able to feed it.
