I wss wondering where is the best palce to but the super ram. also does anyone have any tips for insatlling it.

best place is either jegs or summit. if u want used ebay might have some but rarely dont

 

ebay and classifieds on this site is a good place for a used one. can save lots over new.

but jegs has it. forget the price tho. think its like 600-700 for the uppers

ebay has bigmouth manifolds for 380 here and there and some edelbrocks in the low 300's. get one of those and spend the money on new runner/lid kit from jegs. should come out with a decent setup for a few hundred less than from accel or other places.

 

Slot the bottom of the bolts so you can run them up with a screw driver. A dremel tool with cut off wheel will work fine. Drill out the 4 inner bolts and switch to a nut and bolt (bolt going in through top and bolt on the bottom. Use a lot of RTV on these 4 bolts to avoid vacuum leaks. These mods will take a 6 hour job of getting the Plenum on to a 1 hour job. Get yourseld a long 1/4 inch wrench along with the short one in your toll box and your all set. I have had a SuperRam since '96 and hated it until I made these mods.

 

One more thing. Buy the proper size tap and run it through the plenum before install. (makes the screws go in a lot easier) Also might wanna use a little oil on the screws so they run up easier. All this cuz they are tuff to get to in some places. The screwdriver trick from the top saves tons of time, just remember to stuff some shop rags in the ports so you don't drop any screws/tools down the intake.

 

What works well for me is, i have one of those ratching boxed end wrenches. For the small bolts that hold the plenum to the runners. Not bad once you do it a few times.

Always good to go back and check everything after you put a few miles on the install. I always seem to have one or two bolts that loosen over time. Kinda like when you install a set of headers.
