TPS part number request (I swear I searched!)

Hello all.

My apologies if I missed it in searching. I am trying to get a genuine GM TPS for my L98 Formula. I have this Niehoff bugger on there and its performance has not been stellar (having tried everything else for the hot hesitation issue, including a few hundred searches, this is all that's left). Also, which company has the faster service, Dal's dealership (VanDeVere?) or GMPartsDirect? Thanks much in advance.

You should be able to go to any GM dealership and order the TPS. If you order it before 3 p.m., it will be the the next day as long as its not discontinued or something like that. I'm not sure how long GM Parts direct takes.

Local dealer would be best and you don't even need to know the part #, they can look it up for you if you want. I agree, kneeoff or what ever they are called makes nothing but junk.

Thanks folks. I am loathe to try the dealer because of the pricing here. Well, that and too many bad experiences in the past.

I know many have had good luck with Dal and GMPartsdirect so I thought it would be worth a shot. Hopefully someone with the number will weigh in this week, or I'll do as you suggested. Thanks guys.

I even tried a web search before my last post. Spent a good 10 minutes on it and could not get a part #. If nobody here posts it, go to the dealer and get the part #. You don't have to buy it from them. Most of the folks at the parts counter are good folks and would gladly give you the part #. Then you can order online if you can get a better price.

True, true.

Maybe the dealer won't be so bad. If it's under $50 I'll just buy it on the spot, since the Niehoff crap is close to that. (Edit: Close in price) I guess I became hooked on online shopping. Rockauto usually has the small parts, but even they carry off-brands for sensors...

Thanks!

The sensor kit (TPS, bolts, washers) for a 1992 L98 is 17112368.

GmPartsDirect's price is $46.20 shipped.

VanDevere wants $56.95 before shipping and its a special order.

It is slightly less at NewGmParts.com at $53.68 before shipping.

I hope this helps someone.

Even without a Parts and Illustrations Manual, finding the number is not hard. Just go over to www.partsamerica.com and search. The OEM part number is cross-referenced when you look up the throttle position sensor for your application.

I'm glad to have helped Ken. You're welcome.

Partsamerica?

Good to know. I use RockAuto and the local chains but couldn't get a part number.

Here's the kicker: RockAuto has the part but it has to be searched out by number, not by vehicle. And GMPartsDirect failed to accept my C/C info. Funny, I've had the card for nearly a decade and keep close tabs on everything with it so I wouldn't forget changing any info...

At any rate, I should have it shortly. Thanks again!

Partsamerica is Advanced Auto in my part of the country. Elsewhere it known under names the Checker Auto Parts, Schuck's Auto Supply, Kragen Auto Parts or CSK Auto, Inc. I thought this was fairly common knowledge.

It is....

I didn't recognize the partsamerica name and simply plugged the part number you gave into RockAuto. I had used the Kragen page from time to time, but was unable to bring up what I needed several times and abandoned the page for napaonline and so on. The one time I try everyplace else it's there....heh
