Siamesing the intake with stock runners?

Siamesing the intake with stock runners?
Is it beneficial to port the intake manifold if I have the stock runners on my car still?

I believe mike metzler has a few articles on this and indeed tried it out but I believe nothing ever really improved at all go with porting the plenum and aftermarte runners.
