But if you could please start your own thread I would appreciate it.Thanks

I have been seriously contemplating getting a world products shortblock and having a local shop finishing it with my own parts. Any one here have a motor or shortblock from them ?Thanks

Send it to Lingenfelter if you want a good engine build.

I disagree with Street Stuff or E&R. In Illinois, I would use Opel Engineering in Hanover Park or Fast Times in Morton Grove.

In Ohio, I had Medina Mountain Motors build my 400 short block.

There's a good shop in Concord,...but may be more $$ than you want...they do many rounda-round cars that race at Altamont and Stockon speedways. I'll see if I can get the nasme for you.

Also, near you in Newark or Union City, Hubbards always had a good reputation from mild to wild motors...used to be Vic Hubbards, but I think the son took over...may have changed the name.

Outside the Bay about 80-90 miles, I know of a few good ones too...two in Modesto, one in Oakdale..if you don't mind a drive.

So you would recommend buying the short block and having Ligenfelter finishing it? I emailed World products and it seems they also sell a 454 small block as well. How does your 400 go compared to the 383?Thanks

Golen engine services provides some nice high powered/quality motors for LT1/4 motors, TPI motors, and blown street and race motors. Lots of stuff. LOL

There is a noticeable difference between the 383 and 400. I actually backed the cam down somewhat on the 400 to keep the power band more in the midrange.

My 400 has better parts than my 383 had, steel 6" rods, SRP pistons etc. These parts also weigh less and has helped make the 400 rev quicker.

The 454 ci small block you mentioned will probably be quite expensive. I would guess that the block alone is $1800.

Lingenfelter can assemble a motor for you or supply you with one. They are one of the best in the country and you will pay a premium for that.

IIRC, World Products offers a nice short block. If you have the money, add $2,000 for an aluminum block.

Wade at Al Hubbards Machine is one of the greatest guys i've met. He says it as it is, and I feel quite comfortable with him doing the machining and assembly on my engine.

Is lingenfelter still even in business anymore since he passed on??

IMHO, Lingenfelter's prices and equip. is *** awful too expensive unless you feel like throwing money away. Plenty of shops with just as good quality work (just not as well known) and can do it for much less...
