MAF TPI setup onto 91 350 block

Hi guys,

I have tried a search and am looking for an more specific awnser. I am currently in the process of an engine swap. I currently have a polished TPI unit on my 86 iroc (TB, plenum and runners). I would not like to lose this setup and go back to a non polished unit.

That being said, I have a complete corvette TPI unit with wiring harness and ECM which I am using in the engine swap. This ECM needs SD (which came with all the sensors and such for it).

I would like to use the TB, Plenum and runners off of my 86 car onto the 91 engine w/ SD. What do I need to do to make this work? I have a TPIS big mouth lower manifold so that is not an issue.

I have heard I need to drill a hole or something into the side of my older plenum to mount the MAP sensor? Is this true? Also how will my 85-88 TB work? Do I just have to use the throttle cables for that setup and not the 91 cables?

Thanks for any help

I know that the early TPI setup used a different EGR distribution, and cold start injector. You might want to compare then side by side to get a good handle on all the differences. It could be easier (but not faster) to get out the buffer and start polishing the later plenum and runners, then ebaY the older setup.
