That's from having adjusted the idle without doing the minumum air procudure first.

Some TPS aren't adjustable, on restart the ECM reads the TPS voltage and uses that as the base setting.

hummm, never seen a TPI TB that didn't have an adjustable TPS... also, if his new motor has higher compression(9.5 or better) 41 degrees timing would be A LOT for 93 octane...well, if thats at 2k, I guess its not horrid, but at WOT, you'd be asking a lot out of pump gas....

The tpi will choke the crap out of a 383. Ive got that john lingenfelter book on small block chevys. He said throwing a tpi on a 383 gives a new meaning to induction limited, its like throwing a 283 2 barrel intake and carb on the car.

That is an extremely broad statement. I would agree that any production stock TPI setup, would not be ideal. If you have a look around this site you will see hundreds of fellow enthusiasts, who have modified the TPI to work really well, with 350's 383's and even 406's. The type of intake a person is going to use is heavily dependent on application. Unlike sticking a 2 barrel intake on a 383, an TPI may be able to provide the torque that is needed to move a large custom cruiser, such as an old Merc. A TPI is capable of producing a very high and flat torque curve on a high output motor without sacrificeing to much HP. This is not to say you could not mak significantly more HP with a different setup. As with every aspect of car building there are many comprimises.
