Welcome to thirdgen.org. !!
You'll need a MAF sensor and run the '89 PROM with VAT's deleted. You'll have to plug the hole for the MAP on the Plenum.
This would be the easiest for you as I can see.
Good luck.

You still need a MAF sensor.
You could run without the MAF, but drivability will suffer.
You cannot wire the MAF harness to the MAP sensor, it won't work.
I assume you have the '87 EPROM in the ECM as well? If so, you may try running it with that EPROM, but cold start may be difficult since startup parameters are set with a cold start injector, which you don't have with the SD intake...nor a place to install a CSI.
A Wells replacement MAF is about $200, and many use it, you can get a rebuilt OEM style for about $125-150 + core charge.
If cost is the issue, you can look into getting some connectors and repinning your harness for an SD ECM...but you'll still have to get another ECM (about $50 or so used) and a SD EPROM with VAT's deleted.

Yes, the '87 ECM is the same as the '89, only the EPROMs were different.
You will have to have VAT's disabled from the '89 PROM.
I'd probably start with the '87 and see how it goes...depending on what type of conversion you're going nito, you may want other things disabled...so get it going with the '87, then have another PROM burned, or head over to the DIY_PROM forum and figure out what you need to make your own.
What part of Ca. are you in?
