Quick question about sensors

Ok, I broke off the two sensors that are in the front of the intake base. I know one is the Coolant Temp Sensor, but what is the other one? I tried looking it up in a few books, but cant find it.

is it the sensor that tells the cold start injector when to add extra fuel?

i broke this sensor too (if it is the same one) when I was replacing the CTS. Im sure this isnt the technical name but it is the EGR coolant temp sensor, at least that was the one I broke it was a little bigger then a regular cts and had a connection like a fuel injector. If you can show a pic I can confirm it, I got it from a parts store at a mechanics price at $50 I thought it was a little pricey.

From your discription, thats what it sounds like.
Its bigger then the CTS buy a good amount, and the actual part that goes into the coolant path is much larger. I might be able to reuse it, but its got a lot of degreeser on it.

The one you broke is the cold start switch, for the cold start injector.

It, and the EGR temp switch, and MAF modules are expensive.
I'd look into upgrading to and 89 ECM, and EPROM (deleted cold start injector, and MAF module.)

I had the thing cross referenced, and it comes up as an EGR Coolant temperature switch. Im gunna try and see if it still works. If not, I am gunna have to use my powers to get one at cost. Most prices I picked up were 90 and above.

As you know the injector connector has 2 wires, the EGR Temp switch is a 1-wire sensor.

This is the sensor you described.

There's no EGR coolant Sensor because the sensor only senses the temperature at the base of the EGR valve (that's were it's located,) and the correct name is EGR Temperature Diagnostic switch.

In this picture it's the sensor with the green wire in front of the distributor, this is an aftermarket intake that required Exhaust Gases to be plumbed from the headers, the adapter pipe also has a threaded boss for the sensor which is normally at the base of the EGR valve.
