Corvette Block with Camaro Oil Pan?

Hi guys,

Have a 1991 corvette L98 block 2 bolt mains 1-piece rear main I am swapping into my 86 IROC 305 TPI. My question is will the oil pan off of my Camaro work on that block? I am pretty sure from what I understand that I cant use the corvette pan due to clearance problems.

Can someone who has a vette block fill me in? If neither will work what do you recommend as a cheap replacement? Also should I just get a stock oil pump for the 91 vette motor or a different one?

Isn't the 86 a 2 piece rear main? If so, I don't think you'll be able to put that pan onto the 1 piece RMS block.

IIRC 86's had the 1 piece RMS but with the flat tappet lifters.

You're probably right, 86 was one of those bastard years.

In that case, yes, it will work just fine.

So I should be fine as long as it's a 1-piece RMS? I sure hope it is! Any more money on this swap and I'll be in the poor house

Is there any way to tell from under my Iroc or do I have to wait until it's outside of the engine bay after we take the engine out?

Yes both are on the passenger side. Thanks for all the help guys!
I just wish someone with a vette L98 motor would chime in and tell me for sure.

So this is a definate NO on the vette oil pan in my Iroc correct? So to clarify what you all are saying is that, if my 305 is a 1PC RMS then it should fit the Vette L98 fine since they are both passenger side dip sticks correct?

I think the general point of this was that if the dipsticks are both on the passenger side, then both blocks are 1pc RMS.. Because of this, you'll be alright...

So, yes...

There are 2 piece RMS blocks with dipsticks on the driver side.

I forgot about the 80-85 engines... I guess it could be a 2 PC RMS with a passenger side dipstick (which I'm guessing is what you meant Apeiron?).. Guessing aside, you should be able to tell by pulling the torque converter inspection cover and looking at your current engine..

I was trying to point out that the dipstick on the passenger side isn't a definitive indication that it's a 1 piece RMS, but something got lost in translation.
