NOS harmeful or not?

Will a 100 shot wet NOS system for my 305 TPI Camaro run fine without burning my valves or blowing my motor. My Dad says it will ruin my motor, but why would they produce these products if they do that? Anyone out there got any responces?

The nitrous system with the 100 H.P. jets will be fine for the 305. I would definatley install a better fuel pump, as the stock pumps are marginal for nitrous use. Nitrous does not hurt an engine. Nitrous enables you to burn more fuel. If you do not introduce more fuel to the intake charge, then problems will happen, and things go "boom"! Dont get greedy and try to run the 150 H.P. jets on the 305. Watch the plugs, and its a good idea to pull 1 to 2 degrees of timing out with the 100 jets. Also use premium fuel.

Something to mention though is that on an older engine, you don't want to run N20 if you have any ring seal problems or valve seal problems. Run a compression and leak down check to verify good ring seal first. If the rings aren't sealing well, you'll smoke the pistons pretty quick.

If everything checks out, go forward with the small 75-100 shots. If it doesn't check out well, save your money for a rebuild of a salvage yard tree-fiddy.

I think it's also important to mention that the more you change, the more you risk problems.

Take a cam swap for example. Is it safe to change your cam? Of course. Has anyone EVER had problems after a cam swap? You bet. Point is that NOTHING is perfect, and anyone who's started modding their car can tell you that.

The question for YOU should be how much time and money can you afford for trouble shooting and tuning? You may bolt it up and never have issues......but ya never know.
