Stupid water pump question!

'87 IROC 350 TPI - Water pump question...

Just installed a new water pump, double roller timing chain, harmonic balancer, oil pump, etc., but now have a problem...

I had pulled the old water pump & chucked it into the trash. Now I've got the new one on, but don't know whether the heater hose nipple outlet on the top was supposed to be plugged or have a 1/2" male (heater hose) nipple installed.

I believe it was supposed to be plugged, as I don't have any other heater/cooling hoses that need to be hooked up to anything...!?!

Could someone take a look at their '87 350 TPI and tell me how theirs are configured?

Many Thanks!

(Vewy embawwassing...)
