What is this Thing on Plenum?
what are the vacuum lines to in the pic and also what is the thing bolted to the plenum to the right of the lines? is this an egr thing?

ahhh, awesome. thanks, are those vacuum lines associated with the map sensor or the egr. im mainly curious of the cylinder between the lines, what is it?

The small black thingy is some sort of check valve. Someone asked this same question lately and I believe that RB83L69 posted a great answer, but I can not find the post.
The soft vacuum line eventually goes to the cruise control diaphragm. The the hard plastic line I think goes to the vacuum accumulator for the HVAC system.

cool, well i guess ill find out for sure when i drop in the new motor but i was just pretty curious at the moment

That vacuum thing is a check valve.
Engine vacuum is on one side (connected to the plenum). The two lines on the other side of the valve go to the HVAC controls and the cruise control (if so equiped). There should also be a vacuum reservior on this side of the valve.
This valve is there to maintain vacuum to the HVAC controls, and cruise control under low enging vacuum conditions.
When engine vacuum drops, the check valve isolates the HVAC controls and the cruise control from the engine; vacuum is then provided by the vacuum reservoir.
