I don't even have to start the car, as long as I turn the key to run the gauge fuse will blow. None of the gauges work with the exception of the coolant temp, and possibly the fuel gauge. But I'm not sure the fuel gauge is even reading anymore.
I had a similar problem a while ago when the TCC lock up connector had worked its way loose from the transmission. I just checked that and its clipped on nice n' tight. If the TCC lock-up solenoid went bad could it cause a similar issue? Or perhaps the connector inside the transmission?
What other problems could cause a short like this?
I have to drop the pan and check out the switch as well as the solenoid.

3 days ago, I used some degreaser and degreased the frame rails, fenders and stuff. I avoided the weather pack connector, and engine. I just wanted to concentrate on the bringing the white back to the engine bay. For for 3 days afterworks I had no problems. Then, yesterday I started the car and the gauges worked fine. Then sometime during the trip they just went dead. I first noticed it when the TC did not lock up.
I still have to check the connector inside the transmission, but what other things should I check as well?

Im not sure about the correlation between the TCC lockup and the gauges going dead, but I had a similar problem on an '89 Grand Am. Turned the key, popped the gauge fuse. If you replaced the fuse while the car was running the fuse stayed good until the next time you started the car. Mechanic traced it back to a bad oil sending unit. Perhaps it could be a source of your trouble?
