I am not aware of any easy way to eliminate teh VSS and still control the TCC. You can turn off the VSS error code in programming, but the ECM functions that rely on a VSS input will still have trouble. There are several, including VSS, fan opertion, knock sensor/EST operation, decel fuel cutoff, and a bunch that I can't remember.

Re: vss code 24

With so many threads on VSS issues, I'll just add my problems here.

I did a '92 sd TPI swap into my '86 w/ t5. Left the cable drive to the speedo thinking that the VSS only affected the speedo. A few weeks ago I took it to the track (road course) and it ran like crap, no power, temps high (fans were on manual switch), floorboard hot. CEL came on and off a few times and would stall when I pulled back into my garage spot. Yesterday I drove it a bit til the light came on and pulled the codes. Code 24. duh. Search TGO find some answers. Current plan is to swap in the 'thingy' from the '92 parts car into the trans and plug in the connecter. I'll lose my speedo, no biggie.

From what I've found on TGO, this should correct the stalling. BUT people have said that other than that, it will still run fine, just not optimal (bad gas mileage etc).

Question is, is my problem elsewhere or do you think the vss is causing all my problems?
