Is ther suposed to be a seal around the inlet side of the MAF
My car has never had one since I got it. The MAF does not want to stay in the air cleaner box, no matter how tight I get the clamp.
The previous owner wraped the end of the MAF with teflon tape, in an attempt to make it stay in place I guess.
This is worse now that I have installed the stealth ram, and it will not even stay at all.
I tried the local dealer and the said, "I don't know what you are talking about' doh: but there parts guys are worse than Pep boys.
If anyone know of it, and can give me the part number, or know where I can get one, it would be great!!

Yep there is supposed to be an O-ring seal on the maf towards the air filter side. There is also a squeeze clamp from the factory that holds the 2 pieces together, it has the edges curved in on each side to grip the air intake and the maf to keep them from coming apart,,,,looks like a very odd clamp that may be hard to come by. I had to remove mine but was very carefull with the clamp. After the work was done I was able to reinstall the O-ring and reuse the squeeze clamp. I did not check with GM on the clamp, don't know if it was available or not, I am sure some people on here have probably found a way around it by now or have found another alternative. I just hope I don't have to take mine apart too much more, because the clamp will eventually give up and break from bending it back and forth over time. Then I guess I will be in the same boat you are.....goodluck, hopefully someone will chime in with an alternative clamp that works. Larry.
