What did I screw up this time?

This is on the 87 TPI 350 in my Iroc.
The Maf and all the relays are new as well as the injectors are 24lbs out of a LT1 with about 20K on them. I installed them about 2K miles ago and everything was fine till I decided to put a AFPR on it.

I finally got around to checking my fuel pressure and it was 49lbs so I swapped in my AFPR to get the pressure down to 44lbs. The farthest I could go up in pressure was 41lbs before the car started to stumble and shake. Will it dies and just turns over. after trying everything I could think of I said screw it and put the stock regulater back on. It fired rite up but with a low idle and if I touched the gas any at all it would bog and die. Now it wont even start unless I go thru the routine you have to go thru to set the idle.

If I jump the diagnost terminals under the dash (like when pulling codes) and wait a minute then disconnect the IAC it will start but no idle and if I barely feather the gas it will stay running but dies the second I leave the throttle alone. If I give it regular throttle it bogs and dies.Is the IAC suppose to make a constant clicking sound with the terminals jumped under the dash and the key forward?
I know it's suppose to retract and can take 30 seconds to do this but it keeps clicking way past the 30 sec.,actually till I unplug it or dissconnect the jumper wire under the dash.
I've removed the IAC and cleaned/adjusted it but made no difference. The only code I ever got was 22. I checked the TPS the day before I started all this and it was rite on .54

Any Ideas? I don't want to throw a new IAC on it if mines fine.
I just don't ever remember the IAC ever makeing a clicking sound on the GTA,and if it's suppose to is it suppose to quit after the pintle is retracted or keep clicking?

Update
I went ahead and put on a new IAC and TPS and no change.
Whats strang is When I can get it to idle it got better the longer it sat and idled the better it got at takeing fuel. You still couldn't snap the throttle without it bogging down tho and when it dies or you shut it off it's hell to get it running again.
Also noticed after long cranking sessions at trying to get it started you could hear a dripping sound comming from the top half of the motor.

Also the new IAC I put on makes no clicking noises.

I'm aggrivated enough that I'm about ready to give Jegs or Summit a call and order a carb and intake.
Any Ideas?

When you're setting the FP with the AFPR, you are disconnecting the vacuum line, right?

It's possible you have a slight leak when you put the stock FPR back on (you can get a small fold or even a tear in the diaphram)...

FWIW, my IAC clicks until the jumper pin is removed. You just leave it in for 30 seconds to make sure it has bottomed out.

When I had the AFPR on I checked the pressure with the vaccume line disconnected/plugged.

I have now put in a new diaphram with the stock hat for the FPR and no difference.

The new IAC I installed makes no noise that I can hear with the fan running. The other one I could hear clicking over the noise of the fan.
If I jump the terminals on ALDL connector with the key forward for 30sec. then remove jumper wire it will attempt to start.
Thats the only way it will attempt to start. If I don't do that before trying it will just turn over and not attempt to start.
That only works also for the first couple attempts unless I unplug the IAC before removeing the jumper wire.

For some reason the pintle on the IAC has to be retracted before it will attempt to start.

Got it fixed. The fuel pump was dieing I think. I was getting 10lbs and that was enough to run but not take any throttle. Since the pressure was so low the ECM was holding the injectors open causeing it to idle low and run rich.

Took me 5 1/2 hours by myself in a gravel driveway with handtools. The only thing that makes me wonder if the pump was even bad is the short piece of hose that connects the pump to the hard fuel line had a 1/2" crack in it. I'm just not sure that the pump was working fine and pressure was being lost out the slit in the hose.

At least the stock pumps gone now and my Walbro's in there
