New 86 camaro 305 TPI
I just bought a new camaro, and was wondering if there's anything i can do that's pretty easy to free up some extra power. The car has 130,000 miles, but still runs fine. Its got a coolant leek, but i think i figured out it's coming from the heater core. As far as i know, it's stock, except for exhaust, and K&N filters. Also, whenever i start the car up, there's always white smoke...most likely oil, but it only happens when i start the car. not while i'm driving it. It doesn't seem like it burns a lot of oil. Anyone know what that problem could be?
Also, i'm new to the site, so don't go to hard on me.
Thanks...
Lance

Welcome Aboard!
The white somke you experience on startup may actually be a litle bluish. That would likely be oil smoke from a bit of oil that drains past the valve stem seals after engine shut down. That's really very common on older SBC engines that have older stem seals. Mine has done this for years, and the loss is so insignificant I don't even notice an oil level drop between changes.
If you can ascertain that your smoke is from a similar "problem", I wouldn't worry about it. My '86 has 48,000 miles on it, and has done it since at least 18,000 miles.
As for the coolant leak, solve that one as soon as you can. Running low on coolant can lead to head/block/intake warpage, and you may never get it to seal after that without some machining.

I believe we do....i know some of my friends just finished w/ softball tourneys. I know we do still have a lot of soccer crap and stuff like that. Mostly on the streets we've got a lot of ricers, and 5.slow stangs. Just looking for a little edge over them.
