Well it should alow for better tuning allowing for more power at every rpm, especially at WOT.

The ECM will compensate for a 15-20% change at part throttle, but it will effect full throttle… on my stock 87 L98 I ran my fastest quarter miles with between 52 and 54psi base pressure, but that was also enough that I was getting some black soot on my back bumper during normal driving

Are they helpful even on a relatively stock car? At this point in the game, trying to conserve MPG in a V8 is like making orange juice w/o destroying the orange.

Reread my original post… yes, it was a stock L98, and although the higher fuel pressure did leave soot on the back bumper, I wan’t able to log any change in mileage.
V8’s can be built to have good gas mileage, but a TPI or 350 are not the ways to go there…

When you say best times, how much better than the stock pressure? I guess give me some numbers. After headers, I will doing the little things while I save up for my paint job. Like, port TPI, afpr, airfoil, tb bypass....yadda yadda yadda.

In *most* cases, an AFPR will not do much good for a stock car. But it depends on the specific application. A good tune will do far more. My car (302, granted) was substantially modified, but it still ran best with stock or very very close to stock fuel pressure, even though I did have an AFPR. What it DID need was a tune, but never got it before the motor blew.
