I am currently running a 91 305 with an LT1 cam. Over the winter I am going to go through and port out the 081 heads and the intake. I also want to add a better cam. I am spraying it with 150 shot and I have a best time of 13.10@101mph. My 60' foots are good with a best of 1.75. It launches hard but lacks the potential in the big end of the track.
I have bigger injectors, a 2200 stall converter (actually flashes around 2500), 3.73 gears and a built up 700R4.

What cam would you guys suggest?

Take a look at the lpe 211. I have that cam in my car and it seems to be running good. My setup is: ported sr 305 heads, lpe211 cam, 1.6 rr, big mouth base, edelbrock runners, ported plenum, edelbrock headers, 19lb injectors, stock throttle body, 2800 stall, 3.73 , and highly untuned. Last week the car went 8.01 1/8 mile w/ a 1.66 60ft with a 100 shot. I'm going back tomorrow with a 150 shot and scan tool so I can start tuning.

 

Does anyone have any experience with the ZZ4 cam? The only reason I ask is because they can be had for much less than the two previously mentioned cams.
I was actually looking at the comp cam, but I wanted to gather some more input.

there was a guy on here a few years back that ran the zz4 in a 305 and his car ran mid 13's n/a with the usual bolt ons

 

You'll get more HP out of heads than you will a cam.
