Importance of clips?

How important are the injector clips? From a search I found people run without clips on some aftermarket injectors.

I ask because when I recently replaced all of my injectors with stock units I could not get the clip to engage the fuel rail on one injector, no matter what I did. Can I leave it alone, or must that clip engage the fuel rail? I'm really not looking forward to an engine fire.

you dont need them. just make sure you stick the injectors in the rail first and then the entire rail with the injectors attached into the manifold.

Thanks Max. Its injector on cyl #4 I can't get the clip on.

Any sugestions on getting the clip into place with the fuel rail installed? I just can't get the stupid clip to rotate... it's hitting the piece of metal that forms the groove and preventing it from going into the groove. I held the injector with two fingers andpulled the clip tight to the rail which worked for some of the others, but no matter what I do I just can't seem to get this one to clip.

Try squeezing the clip, when you take them off and put them back on, sometimes the outer diameter increases past the size of the groove in the rail. I think thats the problem youre having.
