Confirm injector size for 305
I need to replace my fuel injectors on my 1991 Z28 LB9 305 5-spd. I emailed Rich at cruzinperformance and he replyed back that I have the crappy Multec injectors and they are not worth cleaning/flow testing. So I contacted fiveomotorsports asking about Bosch style #19 lb injectors for my LB9 and here is his reply:
"Don't make the mistake of using an incorrect fuel injector in your 1991 Camaro 5.0 V8.
We sell only the proper replacement injectors for the TPI cars. From '89 - '92 5.0 uses a 22lb injectors and that is what we sell. The set is $ 267.60 plus shipping. The injector is the Bosch 0 280 150 561 - D9B. It is listed on our web site: fiveomotorsport.com"
From what I have read the 305 used #19 lb while the L98 had #22 lb. On his web site they list the 305 & 350 as taking the #22 lb injector. Can anyone confirm this or is he confused? Does anyone know where I can look up the numbers from my injectors to see for myself if they are #19 or #22.
Thanks.

He's confused/wrong.
350's took 22#, 305's took 19#. I've had a 305 TPI in my 91 Formula to start with, thye had 19's.
Have a GM dealer look up your injectors if you need to.

I've heard others say that that place said the same thing to them. Check the ECM BINs though, and they all read 19# for the 305 cars, even the S-D cars.

Their site is WRONG.
305 TPI were 19#
350 TPI were 22#
No ifs ands or buts.
Just get some SVO 24# and adjust your chip accordingly and go on your merry way for 190-220 a set of u shop right.

Thanks for confirming the size.
I have been reading on the site about the SVO injectors and the clips not fitting, what's the final verdict on the clips, do you need them or don't?
If I go with the SVO #19 lb's for my 305, they should fit & work without any other modifications, right?
I plan on using the GM O-Ring kit with whatever injectors I decide to go with and I plan on installing a AFPR also at this time. Any other tips?
Thanks again for the great info and quick response. This site is awesome!

Hey vernw,
How did you confirm your 305 TPI were #19 lb injectors, cross check the #'s or get them flow tested? Just curious.
I stopped by a local Chevy dealership and he looked up my injectors (91 305 TPI) and they were different #'s than the 350, but he couldn't tell me if they were #19 or #22. GM wants $154.95 per injector. Ouch! They can keep them.

SVO 19's would probably be the best bet.

GM rated 19# injectors.
You should call back, get the part number and then call Rich and see what he says, or maybe even cross reference the number online. The injectors they are trying to sell you may have been flow rated differently than the way GM does... or maybe anyone else for that matter.
Certainly not the first time I've heard this from that same vendor. Worth looking into. See what Rich says.

Ford SVO 24 flow 24 at GM rated pressure.
Ford SVO 30# flow 30 at GM rated pressure.
24# are fine on a 305 provided it is accounted for in the prom like I stated.
I have ran multiple sets on multiple cars from stock to modded.
Had to compensate from IC on the 30'3 with higher fuel pressure than 43 and the 24# I run at an IC of 23.8 for closest match to a stock car.
People have actually tested this out and I believe if u search, Rich at Cruizin? has tested and flowed SVO 24# and guess what? They flowed 24# :-)

I ran 24#'s on my 305 and it actually ran very smooth for how extreme the setup was, running on a stock PROM (other than the injector constant and base timing that I changed).

Re: Confirm injector size for 305
I know this is an old thread but I'd like to add with the long factory runners you don't need much injector that's why the 350 uses 22 and not 24 like the LT1 the shorter the runner the more injector you need if you change to a mini-ram or stealth ram even on a 305 you need more injector I run L30 vortec heads on a 305 with stealth ram and the 19's were way to lean at 4k rpm I went to 24lb and it smoothed it out.
