New guy here...have 305TPI questions.

Hello! This is my first post on this GREAT site. Also this is my first Trans Am.

#1- Check engine light comes on, hooked up computer and o2 sensor and MAT sensor came up. The o2 sensor was easy...what is the easiest way to replace the MAT sensor?

#2- What is the easiest way to get to the rear spark plugs?

Thank you to all.

I've no idea on the MAT, but for the rear spark plug...

Put a spark plug socket on it, then use a box wrench to turn the hex head of the spark plug socket (they all have that at the end for a reason). Good luck!

I doubt you can access the MAT without removing the plenum.

That's what I thought about the MAT sensor. Hoped there was an easier way.

Thanks once again!

Yea even if you pulled the distributor out, you will have a hard time getting past the fuel rail crossover tube, and the FPR.

I am use to working on older carborated motors. How hard of a job is this and how long should it take?

Thanks.

Welcome to the world of EFI! Not too bad. Gotta remove the four upper runner torx bolts on each side. Then you will only have to loosen the bottom runner ones. There are two that is hidden though, as you cant access them from the outside. They go in on an angle, and one is near the T/B, the other by the distributor, on the inside of the base manifold. You will need an extension for these. Just loosen all of the bottom ones, dont remove them, and then you can tap the plenum with a rubber mallet. Dont forget to remove the brake booster , FPR, etc, vacumm lines. MAT is installed in the bottom of the plenum. If you are careful you may be able to re-use the plenum gaskets. If not FelPro has them.
