86 TPI T/A problems still

I finally got the Trans back, I took it on a couple errands today and the car ran great until it died when I was idling along, I was able the start it up right away and it was fine like nothing happened, and it did that once more before I got home. The check engine light is not on anymore, when the service light comes on when it dies will that be stored to pull a code? And also the shop got it to run good, but the dealer told them that they wanted to replace all 8 injectors which would be $1200, I know that I can get them cheaper but that's how much I paid for the car frickin A. So any help would be appreciated, thanks. Brandon

The injectors used in '86 were Rochester / Bosch. They are probablyt worth servicing. Fire up your email and start chatting at www.cruzinperformance.com

Just a thought. I also had a problem with the car dying when going very slow. I was having a new fuel pump put on anyway, but after I picked it up, it died 2 blocks from the garage. So I started looking around, I pulled the rubber boot off the front of the throttle body, and flipped the blades. Total grime. I then noticed some black in front of the blades, at the hole at the bottom. So I sprayed it all out with carb cleaner and it has worked fine ever since. I am thinking that is part of the idle circut, and it was gummed up. It is worth a try, it only costs a few cents.

I am pretty sure I did not have any codes showing.
