tpi will not idle all od the sudden

I have a 86 Iroc 305 TPI....this morning I started my car, it started fine idled for about 30 seconds then I realized I forgot got something in my house so I shut off the car...because my house key is on the same keychain...when I was done getting what I needed, I tried to start my car again...and not it just cranked and cranked...soI waited a minute or so and tried starting it again...it did the same until I touched the gas and it started right up...so I reved it up a bit and as so as I let off the gas i stalled with no struggle..like I turned the key off...so I started it again, and the same thing...i dont have any Idea what it could be ...does anyone else...any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Any codes? If no codes, unplug the maf and see if it'll start and run without the gas pedal depressed (albeit not well). If so, likely a MAF relay went.

The irony will kill you....

How about that...same exact thing happened to me this morning in my 86 T/A. I got in the car, started it right up and it promptly died (of course I was already late for work) like a big vacuum leak. It ran fine last night... When I got home this evening and started fooling around with it, I heard the IAC making a clicking noise. No codes (except the ever present code 32....). Since its acting like vacuum, and the IAC is making all that racket, I suspect it has to be that.
What a PITA...

...and the IAC it was!
Took another off a spare t/b I had and swapped it. Runs like a champ again.
Now off to the races...also known as daily driving here in San Antonio...

exactly what my car did about three months ago. Fired it up to move it across the lot so it wouldnt be in the way and when I went to leave about half an hour later it woulndt idle on its own, turned out to be a bad IAC.
