TPI stock gas odometer bouncing
my 350 tpi 5.7L engine on my 88 iroc runs amazingly, it only has 30k orig miles on it. However, when my gas tank is about half way, the lil meter bounces back and forth, but i dont know what causes this? There is vacuum in my gas tank, but i think thats standard for a tpi. It is hard to guess how much gas i have left in my tank and i dont want to push it, only because the meter jumps around.
any suggestions? open for advice. THANKS!!

Does it also take longer to come off of full? Both of mine do that, the last half seems to go faster then the first half, when braking hard or turning hard corners the meter jumps around, then climbs slowly. Climbs back to where it should be when she starts moving. Is that what you're talking about? or is it something more serious?

yea something like what you posted, and downhill it goes up, uphill it goes down im guessing that the gas measurement is in the rear of the gas tank. but **** its soo hard to tell how much gas u have sometimes

Sender has a worn spot(s) where it isn't getting a reading.
If you keep a new vechicle full all the time, it will eventually start reading just before full no matter how much you top it off, this is another reason for it to take longer to come down.
It's just the nature of the beast.

Our tanks have a floating gauge, they're supposed to move like that.
