The picture is a bit little, and I don't have my cars within about 8000 miles, but it could be the fan wire.

Good Luck

Can you give me the color of the wires. I have an 86 Harness lying on my garage floor right now that I am decifiring all the connectors with the service manual schematic. Mine has a connector right about there and if you can give me a close guess as to the colors I can probally place it for you on Monday.

not sure looks like yours might be a completely different harness, is this for your carb'd engine? if so then we should have different harnesses, thanks for the help though

added another pic of it, this one shows the fuel pump fuse and the other wires coming from the T harness, i dont see the fuel pump fuse on your harness unless if yours has the four wires going to it and mine has only two?

In my first picture just around the main battery connector red ring there are 2 wires that actually have a 20amp fuse in the connector. I believe this to be that fuse. I have not worked my way to that end of the wiring harness yet. tomorrow night I should be up to there. It has 2 wires as well.

dude first of all how are you going to show a picture of red wire and expect us to know what it goes to. OPEN THE CONDUIT. trace it to the source and give it the CAN DO attitude it deserves. Its only a car it was designed by a man just like you.

because i dont know what the guy who owned it before did to it, he also had some old completely rusted out metal relay or something bolted to the back of the headlight reinforcement, no one i asked knew what it was for and it was completely rusted out and falling apart inside so i just tossed it
but anyways i dont remember if this was one of them hooked to that piece of crap.... and anyone could look at their car with the same wiring harness and look at the one 'T' harness and see a red wire since there are no other ones coming from there and tell me if it hooks to the battery or to some connector or something... its that simple...
thanks for your sage advice though

just my opinion, but that looks like something added on - maybe for aftermarket stuff. stereo equip, perhaps. reason i say that is because the battery connector doesn't look like a factory one, meaning that the "original" is different from that. looks like it was replaced to accomodate whatever was added on...

well the top post battery connector i did... its the wire thats cut that i didnt know what it was from, after looking at the wiring diagrams im thinking it powers the "hot at all times" fusible link that powers the fuel pump fuse..
does anyone have a 90 - 92 TPI camaro with dual fans that can look at their harness and look at that tee that this wire is coming from and check to see if this just connects to the battery?

thanks

a 90-92 TPI with dual fans is what i have... there are only two red wires, but in essence, only one... the fans get there power supply from the relays and those wires are black w/red stripe and purple stripe. the only red wire i have comes off the fusible link "D" a few inches from the battery connector and goes through that 2-wire weatherpack connector. from there it goes to that in-line fuse that powers up the fuel pump and ecm. the grounds for the fans hook up the same place as that pigtail off the negative battery cable - on the fender. hopefully this will help you, but i don't see any other red wires - just the one coming off that link. i couldn't get on to your site today to take another look, but that's all i can offer up...
