Has anyone here gotten custom chip from TPIS?

I read the post with all of the information about burning your own chip, that's all well and good, but I will soon be setting out for trip across the country and I don't think now is the time for me to start experimenting with whether or not I have the skills to custom tune my car.
That being said I was reading up on TPIS's custom computer chips, they had six different levels of chips, and it sounded like what I was looking for. Has anyone here purchased one, were you happy? Was it worth it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What does TPIS charge to custom burn a PROM chip? Do they require the ECM to be sent to them? Two other places to consider are Jet and Fastchips.

The charge like 400 -600 bucks a chip. In personal experience I would pay for dyno tunning. I think you will get a much better tune. Cause all they can do is guess at the tune or use ginaric tunes that are close.

Agreed, dyno tuning would be the best way to tune your car and burn a custom PROM chip. However, many do not live in a city where there is a chip burner with access to a dynometer. I understand Fastchips charges $350 and does not require the PROM sent to them. Other have talked highly of this company on this board.

I imagine, although I have no experince, that once you have burnt several of these chips for modifications such as cams, headers, AFPR, improved intake system, etc. you begin to know what permeters to change. You may not get it 100% without a dyno meter but you may get it 90%, which would still be a big improvement over the stock chip with all these engine modifications. As I have a couple more engine improvements to do before I have a custom chip burnt I would appreciate hearing others views on this.

I think 90 is a strech lets say at the most 80%. TPIS burnned a chip for a buddy of mines car and the thing ran pig rich. So they said no problem and did it again. Still the same thing. Then they said there is something wrong with your car. Ok so we went and had it dyno tunned. It runs 10 times better. Lots more power and it didnt run rich any more. IMO dyno tunning is the only way to get a chip burned unless you only have bolt ons.

I bought a stage II chip from TPIS a few years ago. The cost was around $375.

I'm still using it and have never had a problem.

Hope this helps.
