Before I send specs to the cam manufactureres,...

Long time lurker, first time post-er,

I'd like to get some input for my build up as far as the cam is concerned. Motor is crate LM1. ECM is MAF 165, heads will be AFR 180cc 68cc, base manifold and plenum will be heavily ported to that of TPIS big mouth gaskets, stock TB and mildly ported factory runners. This setup is for intended for mostly street/occasional strip handling twisties. It seems every article I turn to slaps a 268 cam for this motor but for a carb. I'm looking to match a cam to the heads I'll be ordering in the next week or so.

This is going into an 86 MCSS, by the way behind a 200-4R and an 8.5" 3.42 rear, if that matters any.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If your using the factory base and runners, just match them up, remove the ridge on the runners where the tube meets the flange. Then try to keep a uniform cross section on the base. The big mouth gaskets are bigger then you can make the stock base all the way through. Are you using a flat tappet cam? If so I personally would use a comp xfi 212/218 (don't know the part #)

Flat tappet, yes.
