chip problems

alright i got a 85 t/a...350 tpi with aluminum heads, slp lower upper intake and runners, hooker headers, a built lower end msd the works, i go to put in my hypertech chip..(serial #-7777) ...and it makes the motor mess up reall bad, it wont even idel, is it because of the previous mods. i have dont to the motor or am i doing something wrong???? help please?

Are you using the original ECM (1226870) or have you upgraded the ECM?

original ecm..i didnt know their was an aftermarket one

An "upgrade" wouldn't necessarily be an aftermarket. I was asking about a later Delco ECM. The 1985 hardware does not address enough memory to support the depth of programming that 1986 and later vehicles enjoy. The 1990-later ECMs are even more configurable.

Aftermarket? AC/Delco (& eventually Delphi) have a lot more experience than any other company or organization in the world in vehicle control systems. Anything aftermarket would likely be inferior, or at least not as well researched and supported. Most of the other brands' OEM systems certainly are not.
