Lingenfelter/Accel Cam vs. ZZ4 Cam

This is going on a completely stock motor, but freshly rebuilt with stock parts. The heads were given a 3-angle valve job, but otherwise stock. I see lots of good results on stock motors with the ZZ4, but haven't seen a whole lot on the Lingenfelter/Accel cam. The Lingenfelter cam is on sale right now for $114.95 on their site and cheaper on eBay so I am leaning towards that.

ZZ4 Cam
Lift: .474” I, .510” E; Duration @ .050: 208° I, 221° E

Lingenfelter Cam
Lift: .462" I, .471" E; Duration @ .050: 213° I, 219° E

The ZZ4 cam has considerable more lift, which I would probably need to have the heads machined for new springs and end up spending a lot on valvetrain. I want to wait to get aftermarket heads to worry about a high performance valvetrain. Do you think the ZZ4 cam would make more power than the Lingenfelter cam? This will be mainly street driven. I have full exhaust, 2600 stall which Lingenfelter recommends for that cam actually, 3.42 gears, and will be porting the **** out of the stock intake.

what motor is this going on?

i do believe that lingenfelter cam is a hydraulic flat tappet cam... not a roller...

the ZZ4 cam is a hydraulic roller cam.

but if that lingenfelter cam is indeed a roller cam, i say it would be a better choice. if not, then i would go roller camshaft and stay ZZ4. rollers are better, but only if u already have a roller block. else ur gonna have to spend alot more money to get rollers and stuff.

the only roller cams i knew of were the 211/219 cam and the 219/219 cam. the 211/219 cam is a nice cam for TPI.

This would be in a 350 that's all rebuilt to stock. The Lingenfelter cam is definitely a roller, just double-checked their site.

sweet, go roller then and go with that lingenfelter cam.. also try 1.6 rockers and upgrade ur springs and stuff for that lift.. its very beneficial on TPI motors

its gonna want more fuel so look into a AFPR and crankup the pressure. i'd say 50psi..... a tuned chip would be best tho

Go with the Accel cam 74216. It's their low lift version of the 74211 where you want to run stock heads without machining for the added lift. It's designed for TPI engines and will work well in your application. There's very little difference in performance between the 74216 and ZZ4 cams.

Anyone know if I will have a noticeable lump in my idle? I would think somewhat, but I'm not sure since I know how Lingenfelter designs their stuff to be very streetable. I think I will go with the stock long block and the Accel/Lingenfelter 213/219 low lift cam. If I have the extra money $500-$600 do you guys think I should get a HSR or a nitrous kit? Remember this is a street car, only at the track once or twice a month and occassionally racin around on the street.

Here is my current setup: Stock Auto 305TPI, 700R4 w/Transgo Shift Kit, PPC Custom 2500 Stall w/Anti-Balloon Plates, B&M Tranny Cooler, Edelbrock TES Headers and Y-Pipe, Dynomax 3" High-Flow Cat, 3" Flowmaster Catback w/3.5" tips, Gutted Airbox w/K&Ns, March Pulleys, Racetronix Fuel System w/255LPH pump, Richmond 3.42 Gears, TA Racing Rear End Girdle, UMI Performance Panhard Bar, Steering Brace and LCAs.

What do you guys think the car will be capable of with the cam and 350 with the stock ported intake and then with nitrous? I definitely plan on getting a custom prom.

Just bought the LPE 213 cam off of ebay form lingenfelter for 100 shipped. I emailed them and he said the cam was for a stock TPI with stock heads and 350 CID. He also said it was a good blower cam due to no overlap.
