engine building and performance
let me know what you guys think of my engine build, 1989 t/a with the following 355 cubic motor, modified air box, KN filter, gutted mass air flow sensor, stock 48mm throttle body with air foil, intake ported to match heads, i am not sure the code but i have the highest performance cam that came in the 89 t/a (zz-4, zz-9?? i dont know the lift/duration i hope you know more about that cam than i do), cam timing retarded 2 degrees, 1.6 roller rockers, GM roller lifters, 10.25:1 compression ratio, 22lb injectors, (do i need bigger?),180 degree thermostat (i believe), all factory emmisions minus totally hollow catalytic converter ssshhh, edelbrock TES headers( 1 3/4"), edelbock high flow 3" exhaust single catty converter, stock 89 t/a L98 heads with a street port and polish job (little more than what i would call mild), GM steel forged crank, Stage II Summit rods, Keith Black Hypertectic pistons, Total Seal Rings, H series Bearings, probably about a 95 h.p. compucar full throttle nitrous shot, tremec tko 500, eaton posi, 4.11 gears, drag radials
--What level prom do i need and how much?
--do you have any suggestions on the engine build?
--i am considerin bigger runners and porting the plenum and intake would what kind of power difference would that make?
--as an alternative what would it cost switch over to a new miniram, parts wise, total?
--do i need a bigger throttle body, injectors, cam, headers?
--i would really appreciate the suggestions and the price quote on the chip thanks alot ADAM
According a computer generated dyno (has always been within 20hp) , based one the mods already listed the car should make 330 hp off the juice and run 12.6 at 107.1
i have been suggested to get a zz9 or zz409 cam, 52mm throttle body, and big mouth intake
which cam is better for the street occasional strip car and any other suggestions on build

4.11 gears isn't exactly a good match for TPI induction.
I'm pretty sure it's been decided that the Holley Stealth Ram intake is the most you can get for the least money.
It may be a good idea to wait on picking the camshaft until you decide for sure which intake you will be running.

1) Use the search button, it truly is a wonderful feature and will allow u to answer your quesions without ever asking the questions.
2) Dont worry about what level chip period. Either invest the time to learn how to do it yourself or try and find someone knowledgeable near you with a wideband and/or a dyno. No two cars are the same and mail order is not the best way to go
3)Find out exactly what u have in your car currently. U say, your not even sure what your cam is. Figure out exactly what u have parked in your driveway, than figure out your budget.
4) Be realisitc about expectations and what u want from the car. If your stuck staying TPI, than build the car to suit it, if u can afford another type of intake and have the skills to do it, build the car from that angle.
5)Shes right, 4:11 and TPI arent a great match and figure out the entire package as a whole. A pile of parts only works as well as the pieces, a proper combination is worth more than the whole.
