replacement MAFs

I need a new MAF. Advance Auto has a new Microtch for around $160. I don't know a thing about them. I would like to hear some feedback on them. Summit has the Granatelli for $280. It is adjustable. What does it adjust and how do you know you got it right. I know the WELLS unit is well liked but Carquest couldn't find a listing for it.

Whatever brand name it may be sold under, try to find a MAF with a thick film sensor instead of the hot wire. Wells had it first.

Oddly, reading the patent link at the Micro-Tech was rather enlightening. They evidently applied for a patent on the MAF in 1995. Strange that GM was using a thick film MAF sensor on LT1s in 1993, wouldn't you think? Whatever marketing struggle which may have been generated over that situation is not a concern, except that it confuses the end user over where to source the device.

I have ordered a Wells unit for my 89. I will gladly post my thoughts when it gets here.

I tried CarQuest and they had no idea what I was talking about. I ordered mine thru www.wdautoparts.com (World Discount Auto Parts). They are based in NY. I could not find it thru their online catalog so I ordered it by phone. It's been 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten it yet so I'm gonna ring the sales guy Monday and ask him wtf. The piece costs 161.85 and I think shipping was $20 or so. Good luck...........
