dropping the fuel tank?

Im in the process or removing my fuel tank to replace the fuel pump....anything I should watch out for? Im going to have to cut my muffler off so the tank can drop out....do I have to remove the panhard bar and the bar above that? and all the freaking heat shields that are under car covering the tank? also I was told that there are 2 bolts in the trunk area that I need to get to from inside the car by removing the back carpet...is that true?

If you unbolt the bottoms of the shocks and let them hang down you don't have to do this. I currently have my tank down for some custom work I'm doing, here's a pic where you can see everything I had to unbolt/remove:

Cut the muffler off?

I unbolted the exhaust from the car and at the cat and pulled the whole thing out (I-pipe --> back).
