Are the edelbrock base & SLP runners worth the $?

I am thinking about getting the edelbrock base and slp runners for my 91 L98.

Is it worth the money or should I not even bother with it? I searched through a bunch of posts and didnt see any real numbers about hp increases.

It appears it will allow the TPI to flow up to about 4900 rpms vs around 4500 stock.

A little background on the motor is its a 350 with a fresh .030 bore. 083 casting heads have been completely redone. I am running a comp cam TPI specifc cam. (210/220 .480/.480). Hedman headers, high flow cat, dynomax welded ultra cross flow race muffler.

You opinions are greatly appreciated.

If you just replace the base and runners you won't get to much. You'll need Pluiem, base and runners. Check Out TPIS, or do the porting you're self.

After doing a porting job on my own I hit 5100 leaving it in auto drive. If i manually push it runs outta air anything over 5100rpm. I'm pretty happy with it, cheaper then buying parts plus it looks stock.

I am running close to that setup now . Un-tuned got me 251/318 rwhp/rwtq. I have the edlebrock runners aswell though and the ZZ4 cam .... I seen the two beside one another .... the SLP had smaller ports.

The LTR base and runners are usually a bit of $$$ ...so is it worth it ? Kinda hard to say . If it does what you want then ...I'd say yes.

I layed off this question as it is tough to answer like the above posts have said. The thing about the SLP runners is that they can be modified to your hearts content. If you port match them your self and can to the basic mods yourself then yes.

IMHO the later runs of the runners are a little rough and need to be cleaned up and port matched. If you can do the work yourself than yes. If not there are better runners out there.

The Edelbrock manifolds I have seen are fine and maybe could use a little clean up and port matching. Edelbrock makes the manifolds that others have their name on.

I bought the Edelbrock hi flow intake and the Edelbrock hi flow runners to match.
I just put them on. But you can port them if you needed to.
But I agree with the porting of the plenum! Thats going to be where your gain is at. The air has to get in 1st.....then let the runners and the intake take it from there.

When I bought my camaro, it already had the Edelbrock Hi-Flo runners/ Intake Base put on it, whoever own my car before must have installed it. so Its kinda hard to tell if its worth the price.

but my car seem to pull abit harder than an average LB9, but I'm not sure.

I personally wouldn't spend the money on runners and base.
I would go with a MiniRam or Stealthram.
All of the fast 3rd gens in my area with efi on a SBC are running the MninRam and the Stealthram.

This question has been asked a few times. The answer always boils down to how much you want to spend and what do you really want to get out of it. If you are only looking for a slight increase without spending more than $700, I say go for it. But from everything I have read, you should really look into the MiniRam made by TPIS. I have been doing some checking myself, and the manifold with fuel rails are under $1200. Looks to be the best way to get air into a 3rd gen.

Any idea how much air the stock Mini Ram flows?

I am sure someone has that figure, I do not though But all the info that I have found says that it is the best flowing system available.
