Loose Fuel Rails
I'm gathering parts to do the TPI swap onto my Monte SS and have two sets of fuel rails. The first set is from an '86 IROC and the second set from an '89 Z28. I want to use the '89 fuel rails to delete the cold start injector but noticed that the rails and the hard lines connecting them seem pretty loose. The '86 rails feel nice and tight. I did a search and found a post stating that the rails can be loose, but how loose is too loose?
Another question: the '86 rails came with an AFPR and the '89 rails didn't. Do I need to order any replacement parts to swap the regulators or will they just bolt up fine? The AFPR appears to be a Crane regulator.

The steel tubing actually doesn't fit very tightly. The 'O' rings are supposed to seal the tubing to the extrusions and regulator ports.
Of course, you'll want to carefully inspect for leakage when you assemble the system. You may want to pressurize the system before you install the runner and upper plenum, just in case.

The AFPR should bolt up fine, its aftermarket becuase I dont think AFPR's were stock. I don't know if its different becuase of the cold start injector, but my intuition would tell me that it would fit fine. Do a search on it or go to the manufactures site, or some palce like summit that will tell you what years itll fit, thatll tell you for sure.

You can swap the afpr np. You will find out if its to loose when you put pressure to it
If it does leak you can buy an oring set and replace them.

Thanks for the help guys; for no more than a fuel rail seal kit costs, I'll go ahead and get one. Sounds like cheap insurance to me.
Thanks again guys.
