As the title suggests, the noise is so loud that I heard it over a built 350 /w open headers. It is coming from somewhere in front of the engine.

I do not have air pump or even air tubes on my headers. I routed the belt the "special" way to bypass the air pump.

PS: Car has power steering and still has AC. It is definetely not the alternator.

does it have gear drive? - also, start the motor w/ the accessory belt off. That'll start narrowing things down.

It's a serpentine belt, that means the alternator and water pump won't work. It'll start running off the battery alone for a few minutes?

yep - we don't even run water in the drag cars...plus there is no alternator. Just light it up and listen. You can run it as long as the temp stays down...it will climb faster than normal, but it'll be fine.

yep sounds like your custom belt isn't quite tight enough, or maybe too tight? I am experiencing almost the same problem AZ just doesnt sell the right size belt for me.

It is fine to run without a belt for just a short while

Mine also makes a bitch of a winning noise.... Its got to do with the new ac compressor i got put on.
The air con bloke says its just how they are but im not so sure.
Seems worse when i apply the brakes at low speed, no idea why but maybe try yours with the ac off.

You been driving around with Mrs. Vader in the right seat? Just curious...

You can remove the accessory belt to help isolate the problem to either the accessories or the engine. If the noise is no longer present when the belt is off, start looking at the P/S pump, water pump, alternator, and the idler/tensioner.

If all those seem good, make sure the tensioner hasn't slipped its spring and that it retains adequate belt tension. Some of them "lose it" after time.

A water pump with a slipped impeller can make a really nasty squeal against the rear cover.

If the problem noise still occurs with the belt removed, we'll need to analyze further.

Alright, I just got home for the weekend to look at the car. I did notice at COLD idle, I heard a hissing sound so I turned it off. I noticed that the power steering filler cap was leaking. I opened it to notice muddy brown and foamy liquid(power steering fluid) coming out(pressurized). Any ideas?

I finally took your guys' advise and started the car with the belt off. The noise is there still but not as loud. Power steering pump is NOT related. Also, noise and whine increases with engine RPM.

It almost sounds as if the noise is coming from my 58mm holley throttle body itself.

Try slightly adjusting the throttle stop screw to change the opening. I've had some carburetors that whistled like a train due to an idle speed setting that was "just wrong". Start by backing the stop off a turn or so (count the turns!) to close the throttle plates a bit. If the noise changes, you may have found the source.

Vader
Well vader is turning you to the right track. All different forms of throttle body will whine if they are operating poorly. Also check to see if anything could be restricting air flow to make it want to suck the air in instead of letting it flow in. pretty easy to listen for with the car running and air cleaner assembly off. hope you find the problem.
