cannot set base timing >>>

ok - let's try this thread... i cannot set my base timing because it seems to keep jumping around and surging. it'll go to the bottom of the pointer and run steady til it almost stalls out, i bump it up a little and it jumps off the scale on the other end, but for the most part will run steady there, too. i cannot bring it down in the 6,8, or 10 degree range and hold it steady. yes, the EST connector is disconnected. cam is not stock, it's an LT4 hotcam... somebody out there running this cam has had to have better luck setting timing...

bring your rpm up to around 1000-1200. this should level the motor off. Then set your base timing, hook you EST back up and have fun.
