Quick Question on Intake Removal........About Radiator Coolant

Im cleaning and painting eveything from the intake up on my car. I removed everything from the intake the last couple of days and the last thing to do is take the intake off but there is coolant still in the intake.

I took the radiator hose off the front of the intake and let the coolant drain and then took the elbow and thermostat off and I noticed the coolant is still in the intake.

Is it safe to remove the intake with the coolant still in it and is there anything to watch for?

DO yourself a favor and remove as much coolant as posibble from all areas before yo remove your intake. You do not want any coolant in the bottom end.

I had a small amount fall in the bottom , where the cam bearings are and if caused a scuffed bearing even after I drained and re-filled with fresh oil.

Admitting my stupidity so you don't have to chance anything. Treat an open engine like it's open heart surgery in a figurative since.

Remove the bottom hose on the waterpump and that should take care of it.

Pull out the block drain plugs, middel of block (both sides) just above the oil pan rail.

1- pass side knock sen.
2- driver side plug ( just like oil drain plug)

That will drain your block & intake.

When I changed my intake, I pulled the lower radiator hose, seemed to empty the motor very well. I let the car sit for a day before removing intake. No coolant left.
