Boy, I hate to pile on, but the stock Camaro TPI intake (available all over the place at cheap $$$$) is pretty good. I bought the SLP kit back in '89 because there wasn't really anything else out there and I was single and rich. Can you return it? As I understand it, you Camaro guys have to re-locate your battery to the trunk, which must be a PITA.

Yeah, I do.

When you install it, don't tighten the bolts to the inner fenderwell too tight. My cold air box cracked around the flange - no doubt from vibration. Let the box rest on the sheet metal where the battery tray was. You don't need an air-tight seal.

Do NOT over-tighten the duct to the lid. It will crack eventually, however. It's only plastic.

Also - I ditched the K&N and went back to a paper filter. I didn't like the idea of oil building up inside the ductwork.

You do have one thing going for you I didn't - the lifetime warranty. I got a 90 day one when I bought mine.

Hope this helps.

have fun mounting the box. it was a bitch on my car. its scratched all to hell now because of that.

speaking of this intake, where can one get a stock bellows (the piece that goes between the intake tube and the tb)? ive never seen a TPI car (let alone a tpi firebird) at a pick and pull here to nab it off of.

battery is best in trunk or on drivers side, charcoal canister also gets relocated to drivers side..

Is it this one,

or is it the one that is half of the dual? the one above is only for Speed Density cars as there is no space for the MAF unless you cut the box. I had that on my 86 Trans Am a few years back.

sure, you can put the battery on the other side. just get some longer battery cables and you are good to go.

I bought one for my 87 Trans Am....I love it! And it was pretty easy to install. My battery was already on the drivers side. My charcoal canister, well that thing hit the trash can REAL QUICK!
I agree with what the one guy said dont over tighten the bolts to the inner fender wall. I think it looks really nice when its all in. It was a great added touch to my car!

Any reason why your keeping it? I threw mine away. It told me to re-run mine and put it next to the battery. So there should be room. But unless your having emmissions testing....pitch it.

I bought one for my 89 Formula 350 back in 95 and loved it!!! PITA to install due to the ****ty directions though.
I think Don 88 put one on a 88 305 TPI but I can't remember.
